Hummingbirds Pizza Artwork - inspired by Andy Warhol Pop Artwork
In the Hummingbirds class this winter, we read the book Pete's a Pizza by William Steig. In the story, Pete's father helps him get over feeling upset by pretending to make him into a pizza. The Hummingbird children thought this was hilarious! From that point on they dove into all things pizza: creating pizzas to order in the dramatic play area, making life size pizza cutouts of themselves complete with their favorite toppings and finally having a pizza party, making and eating pizzas in class! This pizza artwork was inspired by Andy Warhol Pop Artwork. Canvas is 24" x 36".

Meadowlarks East Bean Bag Chair and custom root beer 6 pack
As part of their study of Native American history and culture, Meadowlarks East researched the significance and importance of salmon among the Pacific Northwest Indigenous Peoples.
The Meadowlarks began by admiring and studying a variety of art created by tribes of the Pacific Northwest and then made their own Pacific Northwest Native American-inspired salmon line art. Students then carved their design into a rubber block, and then used their stamp to create beautiful red and black prints.
These prints were transformed into a custom twill fabric and sewn into a super comfy bean bag chair!
As a bonus, the winner of the Salmon Print Bean Bag Chair will also receive a 6-pack of Salmon Soda with custom Meadowlarks East labels!

Meadowlarks West - Sleepover kit
Throughout the winter, Meadowlarks West studied the Indigenous Peoples of North America. They researched the way their environment impacted the way people native to our continent traditionally lived and how natural resources played an important role in the development of culture. Meadowlarks ended the term with an understanding and appreciation of who was here first.
The auction project, inspired by the Indigenous Peoples study, is a Sleepover Kit, complete with a backpack, quilt and toiletry bag. The backpack and toiletry bag feature Meadowlark artwork of different animals native to North America. The quilt was created using a grid method, with each child taking a portion of North America and using small, different colored fabric pieces to represent different regions. After the squares were completed, they were pieced together, tribe names were placed on their traditional lands and it was quilted by Meadowlark mom, Chris Batten.
